Cozy Food Shopping and Spinning Yarns

Today I went food shopping with dad. One of the places was called Aldi. Both the stores had that thing where you need to put a quarter in to get your cart. I like these little stores. Very community-based. Small. Very little in the way big name brands. The names are rip offs of the big corporations. Thin Wheats is one example.

Kinda like in a movie or TV show when a company can't pay big bucks for Pepsi, they slap something like COKE: It's Good! on the bottle. Makes everything feel cozy, slower paced. I got some spicy chicken patties and some iced coffee in big bottles. That's what I eat and drink typically between writing my short stories. These stores will likely pop up in a future story.

Speaking of writing, last night I pecked away at my sci-fi story, Earth: 2525. It's a brand new yarn about a mother, Chanel who's son is abducted by aliens and she has to rescue him. It's a post-apocalyptic story, which isn't a genre I usually write in. Though, I could think of no other way to tell this. The name Chanel comes from a girl I knew in school. She was super kind and in the same special ed class I was. So we often talked. I think she said she lived with a bunch of people in a big house? I don't remember. I just remember she was nice to me and I loved her name.

A trailer popped up on You Tube, and it really reminded me of the story I'm writing. The movie is called Osiris directed by William Kaufman. It's about human soldiers that fight evil aliens. Though, I doubt the movie is going to take it in the same direction I am. I linked the trailer to this blog post, the movie looks cheesy but fun.

Reminds me a little of Halo, which I've been playing off and on. Part of the inspiration for my sci-fi story actually. I love the setting, the gunplay, the score.

As far as other stories? I'm going to finish Parsons College soon. Which is a fairytale romance about an anthropomorphic goat and his human student falling in love. It's weird. But it also has a lot of personal details and deep feelings about school and living life as a person with autism and developmental disabilities. It's been a good ride! Cathartic, but it's also super sexy and strange. So that should be out in the next month or so. If all goes well. Somedays I write, somedays I don't. I don't have a set schedule. Inspiration will just hit me and I type and type.

Maybe I should do what my favorite author, Robert E. Howard did? He would type and also speak what he wrote. In a thunderous voice, neighbors could hear him as he wrote and created worlds. What a great image. He had so much passion for writing. So do I, but he had a certain heart and soul to what he wrote. Though, we're both similar in a weird way. We both live out in the countryside, we both sit in our rooms typing away while neighbors do 'normal' tasks. We are both total nerds. We both workout in our bedrooms. So he totally is my inspiration for writing in the style I do.

I'd like to think he would've loved what we have today. The movies, the video games, the comics, the cosplay. Yes, cosplay. Howard would run around his backyard with his friends, dressed as pirates and sword fight. Another great image. I have a lot of stuff to read on Howard. I have big biography, I also haven't read all of his writing. Which I am slowly chipping away at. But I'll save my Howard rants for another post...
